STOP SLEEPWALKING THROUGH YOUR LIFE: You Are Running Out of Time

When was the last time you stopped — really stopped — and asked yourself how long you actually have left?
Not how many pages are left in your planner.
Not how close you are to a deadline.
Not how much time you have before you hit the next goal you swore would finally make you feel alive.
I’m talking about your life.
The whole damn thing.
Beginning to end.
Start to finish.

Because here’s the truth nobody wants to confront:

In 100 years — in the year 2125 — every single one of us will be gone.Buried.
Ash.
Dust.
Everyone you know.
Every friend.
Every relative.
Every person you currently bend over backward for.
Dead.
And the homes we obsessed over?
The ones we cleaned, renovated, painted, and fought like hell to keep?
Strangers will live in them.
Strangers will sleep in our bedrooms, laugh in our living rooms, cook in our kitchens, and call it “home” without ever knowing our names.
Everything we own — the cars, the shoes, the jewelry, the sentimental keepsakes, the things we swore we “needed” — will be gone.
Discarded.
Donated.
Broken.
Sold for $5 at some future garage sale.
Even our family — the people we’d die for — will eventually forget most of who we were.
Maybe your grandchildren will remember your laugh.
Maybe your great-grandchild will hear a story or two.
But by the time you get to your great-great-grandchildren?
You are a blurry name in a family tree no one bothers to look at.

Think about it:
How many of us know our grandfather’s father?
Not his stories…
Not his dreams…
Not his struggles…
Just his name?
Exactly.
After we die, we’ll be remembered for a handful of years, maybe a decade if we’re lucky, and then we fade.
We dissolve.
We go from living, breathing, dreaming humans to a picture in a dusty frame…
Then a name with no story…
Then nothing at all.
If you let yourself sit with that — really sit with it — the impact is violent.
It shatters your illusions.
It dismantles your ego.
It exposes how laughably small the things you obsess over actually are.
Suddenly the race to “have it all” looks pathetic.
Suddenly the hustle to impress people who won’t even remember you feels insane.
Suddenly the pressure to keep up, fit in, or look like you’ve got your life perfectly curated becomes the joke of the century.
Because if this is how it ends — if none of the things we cling to will matter — then what the hell are we doing?
Why are we grinding ourselves into dust chasing achievements we don’t even enjoy?
Why are we withholding hugs, affection, rest, play, joy, connection — like we have infinite time?
Why are we postponing sunsets, laughter, long walks, inside jokes, slow mornings, and tight embraces for “later”?
Later is a myth.
Later is a fantasy.
Later is a lie your brain tells you to keep you comfortable, compliant, and asleep.
Listen.
There are hugs you haven’t given.
Walks you never took.
Jokes you didn’t slow down long enough to laugh at.
Kisses you withheld because you were “tired,” “busy,” or “not in the mood.”
Memories you skipped because you were chasing something you can’t take with you.
Those moments — the small ones you treat like they’re nothing — are the ones that would have filled your life with joy.
They’re the ones you’ll ache for when time runs out.
They’re the ones you’ll wish you had prioritized when you realize how fast everything disappears.
But instead, many of us burn day after day in greed, ego, comparison, and the insane belief that we have forever.
We waste time being offended.
We waste time being right.
We waste time being stubborn, self-protective, and closed off.
We waste time pretending we’re immortal.
Every minute you get is priceless.
Every minute is a gift that will never repeat itself.
You don’t get replays.
You don’t get do-overs.
You don’t get extensions.
You get now.
This breath.
This moment.
This day.
And if you’re awake — really awake — you’ll stop treating your life like an unlimited resource.
You’ll start celebrating the hell out of your existence.
You’ll start choosing what actually matters.
You’ll start giving the hugs, the kisses, the laughs, the breaks, the joy, the presence, the humanity you’ve been saving for some imaginary future.
Because the clock is ticking.
And if you’re going to leave this world someday — and you are — then for the love of your own damn life…
MAKE THIS DAY COUNT.

If we pause to consider these questions, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and weak our dream to achieve it all was. If we REALLY think about this, surely our approach to life and our thoughts would change: we would likely be different people, rather than seeking to always have more with no time for what’s really valuable in this life. Would you change all this to live and enjoy the walks I’ve never taken, these hugs I didn’t give, these kisses for our children and our loved ones, these jokes we didn’t have time for. Those would certainly be the most beautiful moments to remember, after all they would fill our lives with joy. And some of us waste it day after day with greed, selfishness and intolerance. Every minute of life is priceless and will never be repeated, so take time to enjoy, be grateful for, and celebrate your existence.
