” It’s not about PERFECT, it’s about EFFORT… and if you put in the effort every single day, that is what brings transformation–that’s what brings about change. “
I made a promise to myself. During this trip to Mexico I am not going to drink and I am going to manage my calories daily. I don’t have to be perfect, though. I just need to stay within a few hundred calories of my calorie budget and make smart choices–it’s not about perfect, it’s about effort.
I’ve often heard it said that keeping promises to yourself should be the most important thing in your life. However, so many of us don’t relate to personal promises in that way. In the past, I’ve made excuses and BS’ed myself into believing that my desires and excuses were more important that my long-term commitments. This vacation will be an exercise in control; no drinking, no overeating… more importantly, being present and making good choices in a setting where temptations abound. I need to practice not letting one bad choice lead to a circle of many.
This first 30 days of my 100 Days of Fighting Back have been eye-opening. I now understand the lengths I will go to in order to maintain status quo with my weight. So, this trip will be a demonstration, an experiment, if you will, in choosing my best self, my future self, every single day.
